Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Math Angel Tutoring LLC ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of the families and students we serve. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit www.mathangeltutoring.com (the "Site"), request a consultation, or enroll a student in our programs. Because our services are directed to children, we place special emphasis on safeguarding student information and collecting it only with parental involvement and consent. By using our Site or services, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
a. Information you provide directly. When you submit a consultation request, contact or inquiry form, or enroll a student, you may provide the parent's or guardian's name, email address, phone number, and mailing address; the student's first name, grade level, school, and academic information; and details about your child's math challenges, goals, and diagnostic assessment results.
b. Information collected through third-party platforms. When you book a session or make a payment, certain information is collected and processed by our service providers, including Stripe (payment processing), our online booking and scheduling provider, and the video-conferencing platform used to deliver virtual sessions. Payment card details are handled directly by these processors; we do not store full card numbers.
c. Information collected automatically. When you visit our Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits, through cookies and similar technologies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
• Respond to your inquiries and schedule consultations;
• Conduct diagnostic assessments and determine program placement;
• Provide, personalize, and improve our tutoring services;
• Communicate with parents regarding scheduling, progress updates, and program matters;
• Process deposits and payments;
• Send program-related and, where you have consented, marketing communications; and
• Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
4. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your child's information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
• With trusted service providers who perform functions on our behalf — such as payment processing, scheduling, and video conferencing — and who are obligated to protect your information;
• When required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our students, families, or Company; and
• In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or sale, in which case information would remain subject to this Policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, to provide our services, to comply with our legal and recordkeeping obligations, and to resolve disputes. Student academic records and progress reports are retained for the duration of enrollment and a reasonable period thereafter, after which they are securely deleted or anonymized.
6. Children's Privacy
Protecting children's privacy is central to our work. Our services are intended for minor students, but enrollment, consultations, and account communications are conducted exclusively with a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA").
We collect student information only as needed to provide tutoring services, and we use it solely for educational purposes. A parent or guardian may, at any time, review the personal information we have collected about their child, request that we correct or delete it, and refuse to permit further collection or use of that information by contacting us using the details below. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child without appropriate parental consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to:
• Access and request a copy of the personal information we hold about you or your child;
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
• Request deletion of personal information, subject to legal retention requirements;
• Opt out of marketing communications at any time; and
• Withdraw consent for the collection or use of your child's information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in the "Contact Us" section. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
8. New York and Other State Privacy Rights
We operate from the State of New York. New York law, including the New York SHIELD Act, requires us to maintain reasonable safeguards to protect the security, confidentiality, and integrity of private information, and to notify affected individuals in the event of a data breach involving their private information. Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws (such as California, Virginia, Colorado, and others) may have additional rights, including the rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We honor these rights to the extent they apply to you; to make a request, contact us using the details below.
9. Security of Your Information
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our Site may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the Site. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent; however, some portions of the Site may not function properly without them.
11. Third-Party Links
Our Site may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
